UK Education Festival 2010, Cambodia

The
Cambodian economy is showing very good growth.
GDP is growing and oil will start being pumped
in a year. Whilst Cambodia may not immediately
come to mind as a prime market for British Institutions
it does offer great opportunities for those who
want first mover advantage.

Indeed
possibly Asia's best kept secret is that the size of
Cambodias economy has doubled in less than a decade.
If the economy continues to grow at this rate, Cambodia
will be a middle income country by around 2015. The
economic growth was 9.6 percent in 2007, compared to
13.5 percent in 2005 and 10.8 percent in 2006. Based
on this growth rate, per capita income increased from
$288 in 2000 to $589 in 2007. Cambodias future
growth depends on diversification and the need to develop
exports. The country has abundant natural resources
and benefits from having a coastline with a deep seaport;
so there is great potential for Cambodia to become a
part of the global supply chain. This all demands a
well educated local workforce.
There
are now some very good Cambodian universities including
some which teach in English and who have articulation
agreements in place with well known American and Australian
equivalents.
SpringBoard
have already been able to help British Institutions
wanting to sign similar articulations. We have ran the
first ever UK Cambodian Education Fair in Phnom Penh
on February 2009 and have worked with the British Council
in Thailand to schedule our Fair in 2010 on 4th of February.
The venue is at National of Education, Phnom Penh. It
is open for public and FREE entrance.
